WARP & WOOF
KEN BURNS
I worked on two projects for the documentarian Ken Burns that were all about rethinking how people engage with history. The first was an iPad app with an interactive timeline that let users explore American history through clips from Ken’s films, making decades of his storytelling easy to navigate. The second expanded on that idea, turning it into a full website that organized documentary clips, new videos, and social content into chaptered playlists around key themes. Both projects aimed to make history more accessible, interactive, and connected to the present.

The app lets you navigate clips from Ken’s extensive library by time, theme, or film.
WE SEE NOT CYCLES, BUT PATTERNS, INTERCONNECTIONS, RECURRENCE. THINGS THAT HAPPEN THAT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.

The UNUM site was designed with sliding persistent elements that move around to reshape the structure of the page. Beginning as an abstraction of a camera shutter, the UI seamlessly transforms as curated playlists of video clips, quotes and tweets play on.
