A World Exploration Game

Back in 2012, I designed and launched an iOS game/app called Strut - a world exploration game where the entire map of the earth is covered in a grid of tiles that open up as you travel the globe. Inspired by the maps of old 8-bit open world games like the Legend of Zelda and Metroid, I loved the idea of having a visualization of everywhere i've been in the world. In use, it's an addictive way to record your explorations, reveal places you've never been, and to compete with others to see who can visit the most countries, the most cities, the most tiles of all.

There are leaderboards for EVERYthing - people compete to open the most tiles in every town, city, and country they visit, with special medals to find along the way.

It's about six years old now and in (desperate) need of a visual and technical overhaul, but despite that, there are still around 1,000 weekly active users strutting in over 200 countries around the world.
